The first week of March, Centre College students visited Chiapas and had a great time.

The group visited Palenque and stayed at a wonderful camp in the Lacandona Jungle: Campamento Rio Lacanja where  they did rafting at the Lacanja river. They also visited Bonampak and Yaxchilan, both amazing archaeological Mayan sites. They hiked at the same camps, visited gorgeous waterwalls: Moctuniha and Agua Azul, later visited Palenque, another important archaeological site and Campeche city, which is famous for its colonial legacy, architecture and fortresses. They learned about ecological reserves, water comsumption and production, immigration within Central American and Mexico along with a great exposure of Mayan culture, and much more!
