During my internship, I had the incredible opportunity to shadow doctors in both the adult and pediatric ER, gaining firsthand experience in patient care and diagnostics. I learned to interpret blood tests, X-rays, and CT scans, as well as perform essential clinical skills such as auscultating the lungs and heart, conducting abdominal exams, inserting IVs, and assisting with pediatric appointments. These hands-on experiences deepened my passion for pediatrics and equipped me with valuable skills that will shape my future medical career. Additionally, I discovered a newfound interest in neonatology, which I now hope to pursue as a fellowship after my pediatric training.

Beyond the medical experience, I loved immersing myself in the culture of Yucatán. Exploring Chichén Itzá, swimming in breathtaking cenotes, and wandering through Mérida’s historic downtown were unforgettable highlights. I was captivated by the city's rich history, warm and welcoming people, and, of course, its mouthwatering cuisine. This internship not only reaffirmed my dedication to medicine but also broadened my perspective on global healthcare and cultural appreciation.
